Managing household bills and coping with debt can be very stressful. Getting free, impartial and confidential information is important to help you make the right decisions for you and your family.

There are lots of services offering free advice on dealing with debt, as well as advice and information on how to make your money stretch further, how to build up savings and how to cope with the rising costs of everyday living.


Supporting Sandwell

Sandwell Council help at a local level to support people as the cost of living rises. Here you'll find links to useful information, advice and support from the council, DWP and other organisations.

Warm Spaces are free, safe and supportive spaces you can visit during the colder months.

Keep on top of your budget, search for jobs and see what benefits you may be entitled to. Resilient Residents is for anyone living in Sandwell and has lots of information on budgeting, debt and money management, all in one place. Its free and very easy to use.

A free impartial service set up my government providing advice and guidance on managing your finances.


National Debt line

Provide free debt advice and information on all matters relating to debt and how to deal with them.


Budgeting Loans

Interest-free loans for people who have been on Income Support, income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance, Employment and Support Allowance (income-related), Pension Credit or payment on account of one of these benefits, for at least 26 weeks.


6Towns Credit Union

6 Towns Credit Union helps people who live or work in Sandwell, providing savings accounts and loans. It can also offer a current account with debit card.

Local Welfare Provision

Local Welfare Provision is managed by Sandwell MBC.  It is intended to cover urgent short-term emergencies (i.e. no immediate food, no heating or lighting) through the use of food banks, food vouchers and utility meter top-up where appropriate.
